Sending a new message from prison, detained journalist İsmail Arı said, 'I am in prison because I practiced journalism. I will not give up on journalism.'

BirGün newspaper reporter İsmail Arı, who is being held at Sincan Prison, has released a message from prison.

In his message, Arı used the following expressions:

'I was taken into custody 11 days ago and have been in Sincan Prison for 9 days. I would like to thank everyone who has supported me since the moment I was detained, and who stood against this unlawful arrest to defend the right to receive information. I would also like to thank CHP Chairman Özgür Özel, who visited me in prison, as well as the deputies from the CHP, DEM Party, and IYI Party, and the many lawyers who have supported me.'

'I AM IN PRISON BECAUSE I PRACTICED JOURNALISM'

'Since the day I was brought to prison, everyone has been asking, "What are you doing here?" I was arrested on the pretext of four social media posts consisting of outdated news and videos. So, was I really arrested because of these four posts, or were they just a pretext? Sometimes the question is the answer... I am in prison because I practiced journalism. I will not give up on journalism.'
