The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry has determined, as a result of inspections on olive oil products, that some companies have been mixing seed oil into their products. In the list of imitation and adulteration announced by the Ministry, companies in the 'vegetable oils' category particularly drew attention.
It was determined that seed oils were mixed into the natural extra virgin cold-pressed olive oil product of the Ege Tadım brand, owned by Nurettin Kemer, operating in Aydın. Similarly, similar adulterations were detected in products belonging to the Lux Ayvalık, Pınarca, and Ayvalık brands of Sonkoz Yağ Gıda İnşaat Petrol Sanayi ve Ticaret Limited Şirketi, located in Efeler, Aydın.
The Zeytin Bahçem brand of Eat Tarım Ürünleri Gıda Sanayi ve Ticaret Limited Şirketi also misled consumers by mixing lower-quality olive oil and various seed oils. Seed oil mixtures were also found in the Balıkesir Akçay Altınoluk Natural Extra Virgin Olive Oil belonging to Abdullah Taze and products belonging to Elmas Teyze'nin Yeri-Visal Parıldar in Antakya, Hatay.
In İzmir, the Bizim Tat and Bizim Ayvalık brands of Doyum Yağ Gıda Sanayi Tarım Hayvancılık Turizm İnşaat Limited Şirketi, as well as the Ege Tarım Birlik brand of SSC Grup Tarım Gıda Zeytinyağı Ticaret Limited Şirketi, were also included in the list. In Akhisar, Manisa, it was revealed that adulteration was carried out in the products of Buhara Zeytin Zeytinyağları Gıda İnşaat Sanayi ve Ticaret Limited Şirketi.
Inspections are of great importance for consumers to access safe and high-quality products.
