DHMİ announces: Temporary air traffic restriction at Esenboğa Airport due to NATO summit

The General Directorate of State Airports Authority (DHMİ) of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure has announced a temporary air traffic restriction for Ankara Esenboğa Airport as part of the NATO summit.


According to the announcement, the restriction will be in effect between 10:00 and 18:00 on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, and between 14:00 and 21:00 on Wednesday, July 8, 2026.

In its statement, DHMİ noted that civil and military aircraft carrying foreign heads of state and their accompanying official delegations will be exempt from the aforementioned measure.

A technical requirement has also been introduced for flights covered by the exemption. It will be mandatory for these flights using Esenboğa Airport to include the phrase “STS/ATFMX” in field 18 of their flight plans.

DHMİ advised that it is important for passengers to follow up-to-date information and arrangements regarding their flights through the relevant airline operators.
