An explosion occurred at approximately 08:25 this morning at an ammunition factory in the Kavaklı rural neighborhood of the Karesi district in Balıkesir.
Following the explosion in the building where capsules are produced, it was initially reported that 12 employees had lost their lives at the factory, which is established on a thousand-acre site.

The bodies of those who lost their lives in the explosion were brought to the Bursa Forensic Medicine Institute.
The exact causes of death for the 11 victims, who were brought in 3 ambulances under gendarmerie escort, will be determined following the autopsies to be performed.
As the relatives of the deceased arrived in Bursa, some were unable to hold back their tears.
The families were accompanied by psychological support teams.

As gendarmerie teams established a security perimeter, it was recalled that a similar explosion had also occurred on June 3, 2014.
It was revealed that 6 people were injured in the explosion that occurred on that date, which was caused by the detonation of 3 grams of hunting gunpowder.
