The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality proposed a 35 percent increase in public transport fares at the January meeting of the Transportation Coordination Center (UKOME). The proposal was approved by UKOME, and the increased tariffs are expected to come into effect as of January 18. So, has there been an increase in public transport in Istanbul? HAS THERE BEEN AN INCREASE IN PUBLIC TRANSPORT IN ISTANBUL?

Following the hikes in public transport vehicles in Istanbul, the Istanbul public transport fare schedule has been updated. The public transport fare schedule valid for IETT, Otobüs A.Ş, Private Public Buses, Tram, and rail systems for 2025 has been redetermined. The IMM had proposed a 46 percent increase in public transport fares for 2025, but this proposal was not accepted. At today's UKOME meeting, the IMM proposed a 35 percent increase. The IMM Transportation Coordination Center (UKOME) approved the 13 percent increase in public transport at its January meeting.
