In recent years, the decline in the population growth rate and the increase in cases of domestic violence have prompted authorities to take action. In this context, new practices for couples planning to marry are being brought to the agenda.

Mandatory pre-marital psychological training and health checks aim to ensure that couples make a healthy start to their marriages. During this process, couples will be required to obtain a psychological eligibility report.

Through counseling services, it is aimed to identify potential problems at an early stage and prevent ill-fated marriages. Furthermore, support will be provided to couples after marriage to help resolve disagreements.

AKP sources stated that such a system is important for couples to recognize potential problems that may arise after marriage in advance. They used the following expressions: "Couples may hide many issues that could cause problems after marriage from each other so as not to spoil their relationship. Psychological disorders, tendencies toward violence, and socioeconomic and sociocultural situations are often not honestly conveyed to the other party. This masking emerges in the later days of the marriage. At that point, the process can progress from severe incompatibility to divorce. With a pre-marital psychosocial support system, it can be ensured that couples are transparent and honest with each other. A major step can be taken for a strong family structure."
