While the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry continues to update its 'List of Foods Subject to Imitation or Adulteration,' where it announces foods harmful to health, it is also issuing important warnings regarding toys that could endanger children's health.
In the latest notification made to the Unsafe Product Information System established in this regard, it was stated that harmful substances were detected in a type of pen popular among children.
CAUSES INFERTILITY IN CHILDREN
In examinations conducted on the pen shared under the title 'Gıpta Kids Forest Mechanical Pencil,' it was reported that the product contained phthalate residues well above the limit value.
Phthalate, which is among carcinogenic substances, causes infertility, especially in males. Many different scientific studies have proven that products containing phthalates increase the risk of cancer and infertility in later ages.
MINISTRY ORDERED 'RECALL'
Experts stated that in such cases, families should regularly follow the Unsafe Product Information System created by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.
In the announcement published by the Ministry, it was declared that "as a precaution, the supply of the pen in question to the market has been stopped, and the existing manufactured products have been banned and are being recalled."
