The Ministry of Trade has banned the retail and electronic commerce sale of breast milk. The Ministry stated that this decision aims to protect public health and consumers.
Emphasizing that breast milk is an indispensable source of nutrition for the healthy development of infants, the Ministry stated that milk that is not expressed and stored under appropriate conditions poses serious health risks.
The Ministry announced that it had recently received reports of attempts to sell breast milk as a commercial product on social media platforms, declaring that this situation threatens public health.
SHARING ON DIGITAL PLATFORMS IS ALSO PROHIBITED
The Ministry announced that sharing content related to the sale of breast milk on digital platforms and acting as an intermediary for such transactions have also been prohibited. In accordance with the Law on the Regulation of Electronic Commerce No. 6563 and the Law on the Regulation of Retail Trade No. 6585, it was stated that administrative fines of up to 684,214 TL could be imposed on those who do not comply with the ban.
