Parliament-approved Libya motion published in the Official Gazette
The parliamentary decision regarding the 24-month extension of the Libya motion has been published in the Official Gazette and has entered into force.

The Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) decision regarding the 24-month extension of the authorization to send troops to Libya, effective from January 2, 2024, has been published in the Official Gazette.
The decision recalled that the Libyan Political Agreement was signed in Skhirat, Morocco, on December 17, 2015, following the Libya Political Dialogue, which was conducted with the participation of all parties in Libya under the facilitation of the United Nations (UN) and lasted approximately one year to establish peace and stability in the country.
It was noted that the Government of National Accord (GNA), established under this agreement, is recognized by the international community as the sole and legitimate government representing Libya in accordance with UN Security Council (UNSC) Resolution 2259.
DECISION IN THE OFFICIAL GAZETTE
The decision emphasized that "Turkey continues its strong support for the efforts to protect Libya's sovereignty, territorial integrity, and political unity, to establish a permanent ceasefire in the country, and to foster political dialogue, all of which are conducted within the framework of international legitimacy under UN facilitation and relevant UNSC resolutions," and included the following statements:
"The current political uncertainty and governance problem in Libya, due to the inability to hold elections, puts the calm established on the ground with great sacrifices at risk and poses a serious obstacle to achieving lasting stability. This situation causes concern for the security of Libya and the entire region.
Considering the deep-rooted historical, political, and economic relations between the two countries, which have further developed with the Memorandum of Understanding on the Delimitation of the Maritime Jurisdiction Areas in the Mediterranean signed and entered into force between Turkey and Libya, the continuation of the ceasefire and political dialogue process in Libya, and the establishment of peace and stability as a result of this process, are of great importance for Turkey. In this context, Turkey continues to provide training and consultancy support that will contribute to Libya's security within the scope of the Memorandum of Understanding on Security and Military Cooperation signed and entered into force with Libya."
