Public servants working at ballot boxes will be considered on administrative leave on April 1

Head of Administrative Affairs of the Presidency Metin Kıratlı announced on his social media account that public personnel who served on ballot committees during the March 31 Local Administration General Elections will be on administrative leave on April 1.

The decision recalled that the chairs and one member of the ballot committees to serve in the Local Administration General Elections to be held on Sunday, March 31, were determined from among public officials in accordance with the procedures and principles specified in Articles 22 and 23 of the Law on Basic Provisions of Elections and Voter Registers, and included the following statements:

"Since there are separate ballot papers for the mayoral, municipal council, provincial general assembly, and neighborhood headman (muhtar) elections in the Local Administration General Elections, the process of counting and sorting votes, preparing the minutes, and delivering the documents and election materials to the District Election Boards after other procedures are completed continues until late at night.

For this reason, it has been deemed appropriate by our President for the public personnel who served on the ballot committees to be considered on administrative leave on Monday, April 1, 2024."
