Türk-İş finds the wage offer presented to public workers insufficient

The government's wage offer for public workers for 2025 proposes an increase of 16 percent for the first six months and 8 percent for the second six months. For 2026, a 7 percent raise for the first six months and a 5 percent raise for the second six months were proposed. Türk-İş President Ergün Atalay stated that this offer is insufficient and that they are expecting a new proposal.

In his statement, Atalay said, "We met with the commission members today and saw that these figures are unacceptable. Tomorrow at 11:00 AM, we will gather at Anıt Park and march to the Ministry of Finance. HAK-İŞ and DİSK will also be with us." Atalay noted that Minister Şimşek knows the global economy well but is struggling to understand the current situation in Turkey.

Atalay emphasized that public workers are in a difficult economic situation and that wages remain insufficient. "For the first time in 40 years, workers are not entering the public sector because salaries are low," Atalay added. "At the end of June, the railways, followed by the highways and machinery and chemical industry workers, will decide to strike. In 15 days, forestry workers will also go on strike. The government needs to respond to these legitimate demands of the workers as soon as possible."

Approximately 600 thousand public workers are waiting for the collective bargaining process to conclude, while Türk-İş hopes for a new offer to be presented.
