CHP's Yavuzyılmaz draws attention to tenders at TMO: 494 out of 497 tenders were 'no-bid' contracts

CHP Deputy Chairman Deniz Yavuzyılmaz, in a striking speech at the Grand National Assembly of Turkey Commission, announced that they had identified serious irregularities in the tenders organized by the Turkish Grain Board (TMO).

Yavuzyılmaz stated that while the TMO is a public institution that should support farmers, it has followed a method far from transparency in its tenders. Expressing that 494 out of the 497 tenders conducted by the institution were "no-bid" contracts, Yavuzyılmaz emphasized that this practice is clearly in violation of the Public Procurement Law.

"WHILE OPEN TENDERS SHOULD HAVE BEEN HELD, ONLY SPECIFIC COMPANIES WERE INVITED"

In statements made on his social media account, Yavuzyılmaz said, "We have determined that 494 out of 497 tenders of the Turkish Grain Board, which is supposed to be the farmer's friend in hard times, were 'no-bid' tenders where only specific companies were invited."

Emphasizing that under normal conditions, an open tender procedure should be used to allow all firms to submit bids, Yavuzyılmaz alleged that the method applied by the TMO completely eliminates competition and that public resources are being transferred to specific circles.

"THE RATE OF UNLAWFUL TENDERS IS 99 PERCENT"

In his statement, Yavuzyılmaz used the following expressions: "494 out of a total of 497 tenders were carried out in violation of the law. That is, the 'no-bid' rate is 99 percent! This is the AK Party's rate of hostility toward farmers."
