A technology firm in China continues to draw attention with its innovative construction methods. In the latest project implemented in the city of Changsha, a 10-story apartment building was erected in record time using modular and stainless steel components through a system called "Living Building." In the project, the main units of the building were pre-prepared in a factory, produced in standard container sizes for easy transport, and quickly assembled on the construction site using cranes.
In this method, unlike traditional construction processes, the building is formed by quickly assembling parts produced in a factory on-site, much like a car. The on-site assembly of the modules involves only mechanical connections and the installation of electrical and plumbing systems.
The durability of the structures is also quite ambitious. The special "Bcore" stainless steel plates developed by the company are both 10 times lighter and 100 times stronger than reinforced concrete buildings. Furthermore, this steel has 30 times more corrosion resistance than carbon steel. According to claims, the service life of buildings made with this material can exceed 1,000 years. It is emphasized that the system, which offers high structural stability, provides full resistance against harsh natural conditions such as earthquakes and typhoons.
Environmentally friendly details are also among the core features of the system. Energy efficiency is maximized with a 22 cm thick insulation layer, special windows with three or four layers of glass, and smart heat recovery systems. According to data released by the company, the energy costs of these structures are 5 to 10 times lower than those of conventional buildings. Additionally, by optimizing production in factories, a significant reduction is achieved in material waste and carbon emissions during construction.
With the widespread adoption of modular construction technologies, it is predicted that a significant direction could be set for the future of the construction industry. Experts underline that similar systems could offer fast, durable, and energy-efficient solutions in disaster zones.
