A serious global access issue occurred on the desktop and web versions of WhatsApp starting early this morning. While thousands of users reported the problem to outage tracking sites like Downdetector, recurring loops during the QR code scanning phase were particularly notable.

Analyses revealed that the problem stemmed from a glitch in the device pairing and synchronization infrastructure rather than the core messaging service. After existing sessions closed automatically, users attempting to log back in were repeatedly met with the QR code screen and were logged out of the system.

The issue was felt more severely by iPhone owners. Those attempting to connect to WhatsApp Web with iOS devices for the first time or trying to scan a QR code frequently encountered error messages and were unable to establish a connection. While Android users appeared to be less affected by this outage, those attempting to add multiple devices were kicked out of the system.

Even those few users who managed to scan the QR code faced the issue of the process not completing on the "Loading chats" screen.

No statement regarding the matter has been made by Meta, the company that owns WhatsApp. However, the topic trending on social media platforms in a short time created expectations that the company had begun working on an emergency fix on the server side.

It was reported that this glitch only affected the desktop and web versions, and that the main WhatsApp application installed on smartphones did not experience any problems with messaging or calls.

It was emphasized that users making any changes to their own devices or applications would not be helpful in resolving the issue. Restarting the computer, clearing cookies in the browser, or deleting and reinstalling the mobile application do not provide temporary solutions and create the possibility of putting message backups at risk. Experts recommend waiting for the fix update to come from the company for the resolution of such errors and outages.
