Alibaba, the biggest rival to DeepSeek in China, has introduced its new reasoning model, Alibaba QwQ-32b. Offered as an open-source model, it is designed to compete with DeepSeek and OpenAI's mini models, and is available for users to try for free.

While the DeepSeek-R1 model has 671 billion parameters, Alibaba's new QwQ-32b model claims to offer similar performance with only 32 billion parameters.

The model is also quite ambitious regarding speed. Capable of providing in-depth answers to simple questions, the model performs this process without compromising on speed. Similar to ChatGPT's "Think before you answer" feature, this new model from Alibaba also shares its reasoning process transparently.
