Alternative App Store coming to iPhones!

With the iOS 17.4 update to be released in March, iPhone users in the EU will be provided with the ability to download apps from outside the App Store. The company MacPaw has announced that it will serve as an alternative app store for iPhone users in the EU starting in April. Those who wish to join the beta program and developers interested in the platform will be able to submit their applications via the relevant page.

According to information reported by Donanımhaber, alternative app stores are among the changes that will be implemented in the EU with the iOS 17.4 update to ensure Apple's compliance with the Digital Markets Act. Setapp is a subscription-based service that offers users a curated collection of many popular apps for $9.99 per month. MacPaw is one of the companies that will offer an alternative option to the iOS App Store for iPhone users in the EU with the release of the iOS 17.4 update.

MacPaw is among the first companies, along with Epic Games, to announce plans to offer an alternative app store for the iPhone in the EU. Setapp subscribers will be able to access iOS apps in the beta version via a QR code system. In the beta version, access will be provided to carefully selected app categories such as productivity and business tools, creative and design software, lifestyle and productivity-related apps, utility apps, and customized professional tools.

Apple's iOS 17.4 update is expected to be released before March 6, and the changes taking place in the App Store are of close interest to users in the EU. This update may not be significant for many countries, including Turkey.
