Amazon makes that feature paid

The Amazon Prime Video platform has hit the headlines this time with negative news. If you do not have the paid ad-free version of Amazon Prime, you are now required to pay an extra fee for Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos features. While the exact financial reason that pushed the company to make this sudden decision is unknown, it seems that those using the platform will not be very pleased with this situation.

DOLBY VISION AND ATMOS HAVE BECOME PAID ON AMAZON PRIME

If you are a standard Amazon Prime member, you will only be able to access Dolby Digital 5.1 instead of Dolby Vision and Atmos options. Additionally, HDR10 support will also be available for standard users. It is said that HDR10+, which Amazon also provides for free, is a good alternative to Dolby Vision.

The most criticized part of this change is that Amazon did not make any official announcement or send an email notification regarding something that would affect the user experience to this extent. As a result of the growing backlash, Amazon spokesperson Katie Barker stated in a press release that the claims were true and that users must now upgrade their memberships for Dolby features.
