Apple is revolutionizing image editing with artificial intelligence!

Apple is working on a new application that will offer iOS users the ability to edit images with the help of artificial intelligence using short commands. This new application is called the MGIE (MLLM-Guided Image Editing) AI model. MGIE guides users with standard commands to edit their photos.

For example, it can perform actions such as cropping, rotating, or changing the background of a photo, or adjust effects like brightness, contrast, or sharpness in the image. It can also perform local edits in specific areas, such as changing shape, size, or color.

This new artificial intelligence model was developed in collaboration with the University of California and has the ability to understand natural language instructions. The fact that MGIE is open-source offers an advantage to developers and users. Users can utilize this application to edit their photos in various ways, such as adding lightning to a body of water or removing objects from the background.

It is not yet clear whether or how Apple will integrate this application into the iOS platform. However, this step is expected to be taken in 2024. This new application is considered a significant step forward in AI-powered photo editing.
