Apple, a pioneer in the technology world, plans to compete directly with the hardware features offered by Samsung in future iPhone models. In this direction, it is rumored that a 200 MP resolution main camera could be featured on iPhones. Such an innovation could allow Apple to solidify its leadership in the industry in terms of camera performance.
According to recent reports, the company is conducting intensive tests on an advanced 200 MP camera sensor. It has not yet been confirmed when this technology, which has the potential to radically change the photography experience, will be introduced; however, it is believed that it will not be in the distant future.
APPLE STRUGGLES TO KEEP UP WITH COMPETITORS IN PHOTOGRAPHY
Currently, the iPhone models on the market come with a 48 MP resolution main camera. In the "Pro" series, there is an additional 48 MP ultra-wide-angle sensor in addition to this main camera.
Apple waited for the right time to integrate the high-resolution 48 MP sensor into its devices. This significant step was realized with the iPhone 14 Pro, introduced in 2022, several years after many major Android manufacturers adopted such camera technologies.
While Apple settled on 48 MP resolution for the main camera, brands like Samsung and Xiaomi took the megapixel race even further by developing 200 MP sensors.
Samsung, in particular, became the focus of the technology agenda with its transition to using a 200 MP main sensor. Other manufacturers prefer to use high-resolution sensors in telephoto lenses that offer zoom capabilities.
