Apple reaches settlement in "hiring discrimination" investigation
Apple has reached a $25 million settlement with the U.S. Department of Justice in an investigation launched over allegations that it followed "discriminatory" policies in its 2018 and 2019 hiring processes.

The settlement text released by the U.S. Department of Justice stated that it was determined that Apple violated the U.S. Immigration and Nationality Act in its hiring processes in 2018 and 2019, leading to the launch of an investigation in 2019.
APPLE TO PAY $25 MILLION AS PART OF SETTLEMENT
The statement noted that in some cases, Apple preferred U.S. citizens over individuals without permanent residency in the U.S., and in other cases, it discriminated against non-U.S. citizens.
It was reported that as a result of the investigation, Apple and the Department of Justice reached a $25 million settlement.
Meanwhile, in a statement to the Associated Press, Apple indicated that it did not intentionally follow a discriminatory policy, stating, "We agreed to pay $25 million when we realized that we had unintentionally failed to meet the Department of Justice's standards."
