Apple has released iOS 27.0.1, the first interim update following the launch of iOS 27. The update focuses on resolving several technical issues reported with the new version.
According to the company's release notes, the most notable fix in iOS 27.0.1 addresses a Face ID-related restart bug observed on iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max models. The issue, which caused some devices to unexpectedly restart when Face ID authentication failed, has been resolved with this package.
It had been reported that some users encountered a "Face ID Not Available" warning during setup and experienced glitches with the "Require Attention for Face ID" setting. Apple had previously announced that these issues would be resolved via a software update.
The update does not only cover biometric authentication. iOS 27.0.1 also includes a fix for color distortion that could occur in photos taken on the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max under certain lighting conditions, at an f/1.48 aperture, and during 2x zoom shots.
The package also reportedly resolves a software conflict that caused the touchscreen to become unresponsive when the Notification Center and Control Center were opened simultaneously. Thus, the first interim update for iOS 27 has addressed the primary bugs affecting the user experience on the new iPhone models.
