Apple to announce new products in 2024

2024 is shaping up to be a milestone year for Apple, as the company prepares to enter a new product category for the first time since 2015. The mixed-reality headset called Vision Pro, new iPads, a new Apple Watch, and much more will be hitting the shelves.

Two different priced AirPods 4

The new AirPods coming in 2024 will feature an updated design with shorter stems, placing them somewhere between the current AirPods and AirPods Pro. It is highly likely that fit and sound quality will also be improved in the new models.

There will be two versions of the AirPods 4 at different price points, and the more expensive model will feature Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), a feature currently limited to the AirPods Pro. The AirPods 4 will also come with an updated charging case that includes a speaker for Find My and a USB-C charging port instead of a Lightning port.

Apple's AirPods 3 were similar to the AirPods 2 in terms of functionality and had a limited number of new features to entice customers, so a new look and ANC at a lower cost than the AirPods Pro could make the AirPods 4 much more compelling.

iPad Pro with OLED screen

Apple is bringing OLED technology to the iPad Pro in 2024, and it will be the first time Apple is releasing such a large OLED screen. Compared to mini-LED or LED, OLED offers deeper blacks, better contrast, enhanced HDR, and better power efficiency.

The new iPad Pro models will be redesigned and will come in updated 13-inch and 11.1-inch sizes. Since OLED screens are thinner, Apple may be able to make the new iPad Pro models slimmer, and we may also see a faster M3 chip, which is an upgrade over the M2 processor in the current model.

Apple Watch X

Next year we will meet the Apple Watch Series 10 or "X," which coincides with the 10th anniversary of the Apple Watch. The first Apple Watch was announced in 2014, and about 10 years have passed since then.

The 2024 model Apple Watch may come with a thinner body and a new magnetic band attachment system. The magnetic attachment method will allow Apple to save more space inside the Apple Watch for a larger battery or other components, but the downside is that current bands will not be compatible with the new model.

In addition to its new look, the Apple Watch X is rumored to feature blood pressure monitoring and sleep apnea detection. Tracking blood pressure on the wrist is a notable achievement, and the Apple Watch will be able to tell the user if their blood pressure is trending upward and if they are progressing toward hypertension. Specific systolic and diastolic readings will not be available, but blood pressure monitoring will still provide valuable information.

Regarding sleep apnea, the Apple Watch X will use sleep tracking and monitoring of breathing patterns to determine if a person is experiencing breathing interruptions during sleep. The information can be forwarded to a doctor for further testing.

iPhone 16

There hasn't been a year without a new iPhone since 2007. We are expecting the iPhone 16 series this year as well. Standard iPhone 16 models will feature many of the capabilities that were limited to the iPhone 15 Pro models, including the Action Button and a faster 3-nanometer A-series chip. The Action Button may be capacitive rather than mechanical this year.

A new vertical camera lens arrangement will allow for spatial video recording, a feature currently limited to the iPhone 15 Pro models. Apple is also adding a new capacitive Capture Button to all four iPhone 16 models, located on the right side of the device below the Power button. The button will detect pressure and support haptic feedback, and it is rumored to be used for shooting video.

While the standard iPhone 16 models will have the same design as the iPhone 15 models, the iPhone 16 Pro models will have larger screens. The screen size of the iPhone 16 Pro will increase from 6.1 inches to 6.3 inches, and the iPhone 16 Pro Max from 6.7 inches to 6.9 inches.

Other rumors exclusive to the iPhone 16 Pro include a 48-megapixel Ultra Wide lens, Wi-Fi 7, and a faster 5G chip from Qualcomm.

Vision Pro

It has been six months since Apple introduced the Vision Pro headset, and customers will finally be able to try the headset in early 2024.

Apple views the Vision Pro as the future of computing and refers to the device as the first spatial computer. It is a mixed-reality headset, meaning you will be able to switch between AR and VR using the Digital Crown on the side of the device. Apple will not be much like other competitors on the market because it uses hand and eye tracking for controls and super-high-resolution micro-LED displays.

Immersive apps, games, and experiences are planned for the Vision Pro, and users will be able to record spatial video to play on the device.

The Vision Pro is not at the top of our list because it is not for everyone. It is priced at $3,500 (the price in Turkey could be over 100,000 TL), and Apple is producing a limited number of this type of product due to its complexity. The Vision Pro will only be sold in the United States when it launches, which will further limit its availability.

People who have been able to try the Vision Pro have said that the initial experience can be heavy and uncomfortable, which will deter some users, but despite all these warnings, the Vision Pro will shape Apple's future for some time to come.
