It has been suggested that Apple may be preparing for a new product announcement before its major iPhone event expected in September. According to information shared by Bloomberg writer Mark Gurman, the company could introduce its next-generation Mac mini model before the end of August.

The claim comes ahead of the iPhone 18 Pro launch, which is expected to take place in a few weeks. While September 9 is being discussed in the corridors for the event, it is stated that the new Mac mini announcement could be made earlier and through a separate presentation.

According to Gurman's assessment, the model in question could also carry symbolic meaning for Apple. If the claim that Tim Cook will hand over his duties to John Ternus as of September 1 proves true, the new Mac mini could be one of the last products announced during the Cook era.

It is not yet clear which Apple Silicon chip will be used in the new Mac mini model.

Information regarding the technical specifications of the new model is not yet clear. It is stated that Apple has been testing versions with both M5 and M6 chips for the Mac mini, but it is unknown which processor generation will be chosen for the final model to be released.

In the current Mac mini family, users can configure the device with standard M4 or more powerful M4 Pro processor options. While options ranging from 16 GB to 48 GB are offered on the memory side, storage capacity can go up to 8 TB.

The pricing of the Mac mini series has also seen changes in recent months. In early May, Apple stopped selling the $599 entry-level model with 256 GB of storage, and the $799 512 GB option became the most affordable model. Following price hikes on different product groups at the end of June, the 256 GB option was added back to the series with a price tag of $799.

The place of production is also seen as one of the topics that could stand out in the new Mac mini announcement. In February, Apple announced that assembly of some Mac mini units would begin at Foxconn's factory in Houston, Texas. For this reason, it is stated that the company may emphasize "Made in USA" at the launch.
