Competition Authority launches investigation into Apple and 4 technology companies

The Competition Authority has decided to launch an investigation into Apple Teknoloji ve Satış Limited Şirketi, as well as Destek Bilişim Proje ve Servis Hizmetleri Sanayi Dış Ticaret AŞ, Easycep Bilişim ve Ticaret AŞ, Getmobil Teknoloji AŞ, and HB Bilişim Teknolojileri Sanayi Tic. AŞ.

INVESTIGATION INTO SALES PRICE INTERFERENCE

According to the announcement on the Competition Authority's website, the Board has concluded its preliminary investigation into allegations that Apple Teknoloji ve Satış Limited Şirketi, which carries out sales and distribution activities in Turkey including the import and export of technological devices such as computers, tablets, mobile phones, headphones, peripherals, and Apple or third-party branded accessories, violated the Law on the Protection of Competition by interfering with the sales prices of its resellers.

In line with the findings obtained during on-site inspections, the Board decided to launch an investigation into the 5 companies to determine whether the company violated the law by setting the resale prices or campaign conditions for Apple-branded products and by coordinating the prices applied by enterprises operating in the buy-back market with the involvement of certain enterprises.
