Confusing leak for Windows 12

A discovery made within Windows 11 is bound to confuse those who are eagerly awaiting the release of Windows 12.

While rumors generally point to Microsoft's next operating system version being called Windows 12 and being expected to appear next year, there is now a slight doubt regarding this matter.

According to a report by Chip, @XenoPanther, a regular source of leaks on X, came across a reference to "Windows 11 24H2" while researching within Windows.

WINDOWS 12 MAY ARRIVE NEXT YEAR

As the leak source also noted, since the references appear to be moving from Windows 11 22H2 to 24H2, it is possible that this is a typo and it should actually read 23H2. However, if there is no typo here, it could be seen as an early indicator that the next version of Microsoft's operating system will not be Windows 12 as rumored, but rather a 24H2 update for Windows 11. In other words, Windows 12 might not be released next year.

Nevertheless, it is too early to jump to conclusions by ignoring the possibility that this is an error. Even if it is not an error, the Windows 11 24H2 reference could simply be a temporary name used to refer to next year's version.
