In his statement on the subject, Elon Musk said: “We could produce a phone, because Tesla's infrastructure is based on a Linux-based operating system. This gives us the opportunity to produce a unique phone,” and stated that they do not want to make such a move.

“If Apple or Google do something very bad, for example, if they start strictly controlling their app stores, then maybe we'll think about it,” he said, making a notable joke on the subject. Musk's statements have also attracted the attention of the media with his recent references to Apple and Google.

Making candid statements with his unique style, Musk criticized the control power of the two major technology companies, stating that a step that would limit the application ecosystem could restrict user freedom. According to him, in such a situation, Tesla introducing a new device to the market could protect the freedom of users to make their own decisions.
