Elon Musk takes on Google: XMail is coming!

Elon Musk has announced that he will compete with Google's Gmail by launching his own email service. In a post on the social media platform X, Musk revealed that a product called "XMail" is "coming."

Since Musk did not provide further details about this new service, it is unclear when it will be launched, but it is expected to be integrated into the X app.

In response to a question from Nathan McGrady, an engineer working at X, who asked "When are we making XMail?", Musk replied, "It's coming."

As of 2024, it is known that Gmail has more than 1.8 billion active users worldwide.

However, even if XMail is released, it seems difficult for it to surpass Gmail, which is the world's most popular email service.

Elon Musk took over Twitter more than a year ago and has made a series of controversial changes to the platform since the acquisition. Musk had previously expressed his long-term goal of turning X into an "everything app."

In November, xAI's first chatbot product, "Grok," was introduced. However, Grok was designed to include a bit of humor in its responses.

Musk also provided an update this week regarding a patient who had a brain chip implanted by Neuralink. According to Musk's statement on X, the patient appears to have fully recovered and is able to control a computer mouse using their thoughts.

Google's AI-powered image generation application, Gemini, had been accused of racism against white people. However, Gemini later apologized and suspended its feature for generating images of people.

Elon Musk's statements on X have begun to signal that he will be a rival to Google.
