Epic Games may not have been hacked!

Significant developments have occurred in recent days regarding the alleged hacking of the Epic Games platform. A hacker group known as Mogilevich had announced about a week ago that they had infiltrated Epic's servers and accessed 189 GB of user data.

However, in their latest statement, the same group claimed that such an event never took place and that they had fabricated this lie to deceive other hackers. Making unexpected claims regarding the case, Mogilevich alleged that they had promised to sell Epic Games data to certain hacker groups. They stated that they thought this would discourage them from hacking the company, and that they had invented the hacking story for this purpose.

While it is alleged that Mogilevich sold some data to 8 different groups, it has not yet been proven whether this data came from Epic Games. Epic's official statement indicates that no hacking incident occurred, which is consistent with these developments.

The sudden shift in the Mogilevich group's narrative—after they had essentially blackmailed Epic last week, claiming to possess critical data such as users' emails, passwords, and payment information—has caused confusion. Some have claimed that the group fabricated this lie to avoid a lengthy prison sentence. The truth is expected to emerge in the near future.
