Research Assistant Şeyma Yektar from the Üsküdar University Software Engineering Department, who conducts research on artificial intelligence, made exclusive statements to 12punto regarding the use of AI in this field.

Pointing out that the uncontrolled use of artificial intelligence applications such as ChatGPT for writing can involve actions that contradict academic ethics, Yektar said that texts should be regularly examined and plagiarism prevention measures should be taken.

Stating that measures should also be taken against artificial intelligence allowing students to cheat on their assignments and in the academic field, Yektar pointed to the importance of detection tools used in this regard.

She expressed that checking texts written by students with AI-supported tools is important in terms of academic integrity.

Touching upon the ethical challenges of artificial intelligence in education in her assessments, Research Assistant Şeyma Yektar said that issues such as bias, discrimination, privacy, and data protection, in particular, should not be ignored.
