Release date for Kojima's new game announced: When will Death Stranding 2 be released?
The official release date for the highly anticipated Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, developed by Kojima Productions, has been announced. WHEN DO PRE-ORDERS FOR DEATH STRANDING 2 AND SPECIAL EDITIONS BEGIN?
The game's designer and director, Hideo Kojima, announced during his presentation at the SXSW 2025 (South by Southwest) event that the game will be released for the PlayStation 5 platform on June 26. At the event, he also introduced the Collector’s Edition of the game and announced that pre-orders will begin on Monday, March 17. Updates made to the PlayStation Store in February indicated that some of the game's core mechanics would return and that the previous game's experience, built on social connections, would be further developed.
WHAT IS THE SOCIAL STRAND SYSTEM AND HOW IS IT CHANGING?
The Social Strand system, one of the core mechanics of the Death Stranding series, offers a structure that allows players to interact with each other indirectly. In the first game, this system allowed players to build roads, share resources, and help other players with objects they left behind. It is stated that this system has been further developed in Death Stranding 2.
With the new game, it is stated that players will be given more initiative in encounters with enemies. Players will be able to strengthen their social bonds while interacting with other characters in the world, and these connections may directly affect their progress in the game world. Kojima Productions states that the Social Strand system will deepen cooperation between players and offer a more comprehensive narrative about how human relationships are shaped in a post-apocalyptic world.
WHO IS IN THE CAST?
The 10-minute trailer shown at the SXSW 2025 event also revealed important details about the game's cast. Norman Reedus returns in his role as Sam Bridges from the first game. In addition, new characters such as Elle Fanning (Tomorrow), Shioli Kutsuna (Rainy), and George Miller (Tarman) have been added to the cast.
HOW MUCH WILL THE GAME COST?
Death Stranding 2 will meet players with both physical and digital editions. Although the price in Turkey has not yet been announced, the starting price in the US has been set at 70 dollars.
