A new claim has emerged regarding GTA 6, one of the most anticipated titles in the gaming world, which would make piracy more difficult. According to the information provided, the game will require the most up-to-date console software on its release day. For this reason, it is stated that the game will not run on jailbroken PS5 consoles, which typically operate on outdated software versions.
According to the claim, GTA 6 will not open on PS5 firmware versions below 14.10.00.00, which was released by Sony. This requirement could significantly complicate the use of recent jailbreak attempts on the PS5 for GTA 6.
A vulnerability linked to the 13.60 console update recently made headlines on the PS5. Developers and hackers managed to gain kernel-level access using this vulnerability via the browser; this development reignited discussions about jailbreaking the console.
Sony has accelerated its security measures following this process. The company created significant obstacles for the Relapse method with the 14.00 system software released on September 16. Security patches were further increased with the 14.10 update, which was made available on October 1.
The fact that the PS5 and Xbox versions of GTA 6 will be offered through digital channels is also considered one of the factors providing an advantage to publishers in their fight against piracy. While physical discs may carry a risk of compatibility with older software due to the production process, the requirement for current software can be more easily enforced in digital stores.
