Lufthansa is preparing to move away from its current ticket number and Passenger Name Record (PNR) practices as part of its efforts to improve the passenger experience through digitalization.

The company announced that it will consolidate all passenger travel information under a single umbrella with a new numbering system called "Order-ID," which aims to integrate data across modern airline systems.

This change will be implemented in collaboration with the Lufthansa Group and Amadeus, a company operating in the field of travel technology. This innovation, carried out as part of a digitalization initiative, will play a key role in the airline's digital transformation strategy.

With the new structure, passengers will now be able to perform tasks such as seat selection, purchasing additional baggage, upgrading flight classes, and viewing included services through a single system. Thus, reservation and ticket information, which were previously tracked with separate numbers, will be gathered under the "Order-ID" umbrella, providing more practical travel management.

Lufthansa officials point out that with this application, passengers will be able to access necessary information much faster in the event of changes or planned updates to flights. The company states that it will offer "one-click" solutions and comprehensive information, especially during times of disruption or mandatory changes.

It was reported that the change will be implemented gradually across all airline brands under the Lufthansa Group, but no clear date has been given for when the system will be fully operational. It is stated that the "Travel-ID" system, through which passengers manage their personal profiles, will continue to be used actively during this transition process.
