September 25, 2024 - At Meta Connect 2024, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg shared updates on the company's pioneering work in artificial intelligence, wearable devices, and mixed reality, aimed at Meta's vision for the future computing platform.

Meta AI and Llama 3.2:
Continuing its leadership in the field of artificial intelligence with more than 400 million people using Meta AI across its platforms, Meta's key updates include voice interaction for Meta AI on WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, and Messenger, as well as image recognition features now available in the US. Meta also announced the release of Llama 3.2 models, designed to process both text and image inputs. These models are being made available on platforms such as Hugging Face and llama.com, as well as through Meta's broad partner platform ecosystem, which includes AMD, AWS, Databricks, Dell, Google Cloud, Groq, IBM, Intel, Microsoft Azure, NVIDIA, Oracle Cloud, Snowflake, and more.
Meta Quest 3S and Horizon OS updates:
The new addition to the Quest 3 family, the Meta Quest 3S mixed reality headset, was designed for families and those new to mixed reality. This affordable mixed reality headset offers high-resolution, full-color performance starting at $299.99 (128 GB). Additionally, users will receive a copy of the highly anticipated Batman: Arkham Shadow when they purchase any Quest 3 family device.
Developments regarding Ray-Ban x Meta smart glasses:
Meta's partnership with Ray-Ban continues to evolve. New updates include AI improvements such as real-time video support, live translation, and integration with Spotify, Amazon Music, and Audible. It was also announced at Connect that a new series of Transitions® lenses from EssilorLuxottica will be introduced to provide users with more comfort and style.
Orion AR glasses:
Meta introduced Orion, a state-of-the-art prototype of true AR glasses that seamlessly blends the look of regular glasses with three-dimensional augmented reality features. With a 70-degree field of view, it offers a stunning experience, including holographic people and 3D entertainment. The glasses come with advanced input systems including voice, eye, and hand tracking, as well as an EMG (electromyography) wristband for seamless interaction. Select individuals inside and outside of Meta will gain early access to Orion to refine and further develop the product line. Meanwhile, the AR glasses are planned for release in the near future.
