According to Microsoft's announcement, starting with Windows 11 Build 26020, the WordPad application will no longer be automatically installed when performing a clean install of Windows 11.
According to the report on Webtekno, with subsequent updates, the WordPad application will also be removed from computers where it is already installed, and the application will not be able to be reinstalled even if the user wishes. Thus, the WordPad application will be permanently removed from use.
WHAT WAS WORDPAD USED FOR
The WordPad application was first introduced in 1995 alongside the Windows 95 operating system. Released to replace the Microsoft Write application, it offered more advanced features than Notepad, but did not provide as many features as Microsoft Word.
Although Microsoft tried to develop WordPad to meet current needs over the course of nearly 30 years, the fact that Google Docs offered a better option for free caused WordPad to fall into disuse.
