Minister Uraloğlu: 5G technology will enable effective use of artificial intelligence

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu drew attention to the global race in artificial intelligence, stating, "5G technology will enable the more effective use of artificial intelligence." Speaking to an AA reporter at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025 held in Barcelona, Spain, Uraloğlu noted that the transition process to 5G is continuing rapidly worldwide.

Expressing that new technologies are introduced at events like MWC, Uraloğlu emphasized that Turkey is conducting a tender process for the 5G transition and that they will make the most accurate decision by following developments in the sector. He also stated that they aim to spread 5G across the country, which will contribute to the development of other technologies. He noted that 5G is being tested at 34 locations in Turkey, primarily at Istanbul Airport, and that tests will also be conducted at the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) this week. Uraloğlu added that he believes the process is progressing quite successfully.

NEW PROJECTS ON COVERAGE AREAS ARE ON THE WAY

Providing information about the work carried out by Türksat in the fields of space, Cable TV, and fiber, Uraloğlu said, "Türksat's collaborations with ULAK Communications and other operators continue. Our projects regarding areas without coverage will also be implemented soon." Stating that China has made significant breakthroughs in artificial intelligence, Uraloğlu pointed out that 5G will allow for more efficient use of artificial intelligence. He also stated that they aim to prevent the spread of fraud and misleading transactions with the regulations they plan for social media platforms. Pointing out that the world is in a race regarding artificial intelligence, Uraloğlu made the following remarks:

"China has now found a place in the world with its latest breakthroughs in artificial intelligence. While these make our lives easier on one hand, they also bring some challenges. 5G technology will enable more practical use of artificial intelligence. Furthermore, by assigning responsibilities to social media servers with the regulations we plan to implement this year, we will prevent the spread of fraud or operations aimed at misleading people."
