NASA announces Voyager 1 spacecraft is sending meaningful data again
The Voyager 1 spacecraft, launched by the U.S. National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) in 1977 and still in operation, has once again sent meaningful data back to Earth from a distance of 24.1 billion kilometers.

In a statement from NASA, it was reported that Voyager 1 is sending meaningful data regarding its status and onboard engineering systems.
The statement noted that Voyager 1, located 24.1 billion kilometers from Earth, has sent meaningful data from deep space once again following March 16, emphasizing that the next step is to enable the spacecraft to resume sending meaningful scientific data.
In a statement on March 16, NASA had announced that Voyager 1, which had been transmitting unintelligible signals to Earth since November 2023, had provided a coherent response to a command sent on March 1.
The statement had used the phrase, "The source of the problem is believed to be one of the 3 computers in the flight data subsystem (FDS) that stores science and engineering data until it is sent to Earth."
Launched into space in 1977 to conduct research outside the influence of the solar system, Voyager 1 is currently 24.1 billion kilometers away from Earth.
Due to its interstellar position, a one-way trip for Voyager 1's signal takes 20 hours and 33 minutes, meaning it takes two days for a message to travel to and from NASA.
Meanwhile, NASA is also attempting to receive signals from the Voyager 2 spacecraft, with which it lost contact after sending an incorrect command.
