Netflix announces it will no longer support older iPhones: If you have these phones, you will not be able to access Netflix

Global technology giant Apple recently announced its highly anticipated iPhone 16 series. With the announcement of the new phone series, there was curiosity about whether older models would be 'left to age' and whether they would continue to receive updates from various applications. The first development regarding this situation has occurred. 

Digital streaming platform Netflix is ending support for older devices compatible with iOS 16 and iPadOS 16. From now on, iOS 17 or a newer version will be required for new updates, features, and bug fixes for the Netflix application.

Apple has been offering at least 5 years of iOS updates for its devices starting from the iPhone X. However, at the end of this period, devices may be deprived of new features and may become incompatible with some applications. 

iPHONES IN THEIR SEVENTH OR EIGHTH YEAR ARE CONSIDERED 'OUTDATED'

It is stated that application incompatibilities are inevitable as the iPhone X is nearly eight years old. Netflix's decision to stop supporting these devices is a harbinger that other applications will follow a similar path. Whether called planned or unplanned obsolescence, an iPhone in its seventh or eighth year is now considered outdated in terms of its features and functionality.

There is still an option for those who prefer to continue using their older devices. They can continue to use the current version of the Netflix application or watch Netflix content via the Safari browser. This situation once again shows that older devices struggle to keep up with new technological developments.

iOS 18 will be released soon, and Apple will offer users who do not intend to update the option to stay on iOS 17. While developers are submitting their applications updated for iOS 18 to Apple, Netflix has announced the iPhone models that will soon lose support.
