A new move from Apple: They have announced the reward amount

Apple has doubled the rewards it offers to researchers who identify security vulnerabilities in order to enhance device security. Those who discover "Zero-Click" vulnerabilities, in particular, can earn up to 2 million dollars.

Apple considers Zero-Click vulnerabilities, which allow devices to be compromised without any user interaction, to be among the most serious security threats. By increasing the reward amount for the detection of such vulnerabilities, the company aims to further incentivize security researchers.

In response to the rapidly growing spyware industry in recent years, Apple has taken a proactive step by expanding its reward program. Zero-Click attacks can take control of a device by exploiting multiple vulnerabilities simultaneously.

NEW SECURITY MEASURES

Apple is strengthening its defenses not only through rewards but also at the software level. The newly introduced Lockdown Mode offers an advanced security layer aimed at preventing targeted spyware attacks. Additionally, the Memory Integrity Enforcement feature will protect device memory against types of vulnerabilities that are difficult to exploit on iPhone 17 and iPhone Air models.

THE SECURITY RACE

Apple is not the only company running a reward program for security vulnerabilities. Giants such as Google, Microsoft, Meta, Tesla, and Intel also encourage researchers with active "bug bounty" programs.
