New security feature from WhatsApp

An important feature has been discovered in the "2.24.4.25" Android beta version of WhatsApp. This upcoming feature will prevent users from taking screenshots of profile photos.

A security feature designed to increase user privacy is coming to WhatsApp, the world's most popular instant messaging application. Distributed in the "2.24.4.25" Android beta version of the app, this new feature will block the ability to take screenshots of users' profile photos. This will provide an additional layer of protection for user privacy.

Years ago, profile photos on WhatsApp could actually be saved to phones. However, this feature was removed with an update approximately 5 years ago. Since then, however, users have been able to access other people's profile photos by using their phones' screenshot functionality. The new feature currently being tested aims to eliminate this as well.

Once the newly developed feature becomes available to all users, the phone's screenshot function will become ineffective. Furthermore, a user attempting to take a screenshot will receive a warning message stating that they cannot do so.

However, this does not mean that WhatsApp profile pictures are completely secure with this feature. Other users could still take a photo of your profile picture using another phone. Therefore, users may still not be entirely secure. Finally, there is no information yet on when this feature will be released for general use.
