Nvidia's share price rose by 5.16 percent to 1,224 dollars. With the rise in its shares, Nvidia's market value exceeded the 3 trillion dollar level for the first time.

The chipmaker's share price has seen an increase of over 146 percent since the beginning of the year.

The increase in the company's shares was driven by the rising demand for Nvidia's artificial intelligence chips.

SURPASSED APPLE

As of the market close, Nvidia reached a market value of 3.011 trillion dollars, surpassing Apple to become the world's second most valuable company.

Although Apple shares also showed an increase of nearly 1 percent today, the company's market value remained at 3.003 trillion dollars.
