OpenAI decides to shut down AI-powered Atlas browser

OpenAI has decided not to continue the AI-powered Atlas browser, which it introduced in October, as a standalone product. The company's new plan is to turn Atlas into a tool that works with ChatGPT rather than a separate browser.

When it was introduced, Atlas stood out as a ChatGPT-based browser. However, it is stated that the scope of the product is being redefined, and the browser will be positioned to work in harmony with applications, particularly the ChatGPT ecosystem, rather than as a standalone structure.

Atlas is intended to work in harmony with the ChatGPT desktop application and Chrome extension.

In the new usage model, the goal is for Atlas to be used with ChatGPT's desktop application and as an extension in Google's Chrome browser. Thus, the product is expected to transform into an AI assistant integrated into existing tools rather than functioning as an independent browser.
