OpenAI opens SearchGPT to all users

OpenAI announced that it has made its AI-powered search engine, SearchGPT, available to all users as of yesterday, as part of its "12 Days of OpenAI" event launched last week.

Challenging Google's dominance in the search engine market, OpenAI initially tested SearchGPT—which it introduced as "a new way to search"—with a limited group of users and first offered it to those with paid subscription plans.

SearchGPT allows users to receive fast and immediate answers while also providing links to relevant web sources. This reduces the time spent searching for information on the internet. Integrated into ChatGPT, SearchGPT is updated with real-time data.

By answering users' questions with source citations, SearchGPT increases engagement by referencing publishers with whom OpenAI collaborates, and expands the functionality of ChatGPT.

OpenAI's Chief Product Officer Kevin Weil confirmed that SearchGPT has been made globally available to all users with access to ChatGPT.
