Sony is experimenting with an innovative pricing system on the PlayStation Store. This system, called "dynamic pricing," allows the same game to be offered to different users at varying prices. This innovation is being tested in more than 50 European countries, including Germany, France, Spain, and the United Kingdom.

The system determines pricing based on the user's PlayStation Network account, and these prices are not linked to campaigns, regional discounts, or exchange rates. Sony has not yet disclosed what data it uses to determine prices, but it is stated that the system is designed to reward loyal users rather than to extract more money from players.

Initial observations show that users who frequently use the store and spend more time on the platform benefit from discounts of up to 17 percent. Popular titles included in the testing process include WWE 2K25, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, Civilization VII, Kingdom Come: Deliverance II, and Mafia: The Old Country. For example, while the price of WWE 2K25 drops from 74.99 euros to 61.82 euros for some users, the price of Space Marine 2 can go down from 69.99 euros to 58.35 euros.

Dynamic pricing is not limited to games; PlayStation Plus subscription fees are also part of this test. Major publishers such as 2K Games, Take-Two Interactive, Deep Silver, Focus Entertainment, and Team17 are also supporting this innovative approach by Sony. Although there has been no official statement from Sony yet, the results of this test indicate that personalized pricing for players could become more widespread in the future.
