At the Snapdragon Summit event, Qualcomm brought its "agentic AI" approach, which it defines as the new phase of artificial intelligence, to the forefront. The company's CEO, Cristiano Amon, stated that AI systems will evolve from being mere tools that answer questions into structures capable of planning and executing tasks on behalf of the user.

The core idea highlighted in Qualcomm's presentation was that AI understands the user's intent and context to take action within permitted boundaries. In this framework, next-generation systems are aimed at playing a more effective role in areas such as appointments, reservations, payments, cross-device synchronization, and daily workflows.

Examples of agentic AI experiences were showcased during Snapdragon Summit 2026.

EMPHASIS ON ON-DEVICE AI

The company places the Snapdragon platform and local inference power running on edge devices at the center of this transformation. According to Qualcomm, processing data on the device as much as possible can both shorten response times and contribute to privacy expectations by reducing the need to move sensitive information to the cloud.

In Amon's assessment, it was emphasized that technology competition is not limited to processor speed or raw technical specifications, and that tangible results for the user are gaining more importance. The seamless operation of personal devices such as smartphones, computers, smartwatches, headphones, and automobiles was presented as one of the key parts of this approach.

Agentic AI systems aim to take a more active role in decision-making and task execution processes.

Qualcomm management highlighted topics such as personalization, proactive behavior, fast response, trust, and seamless cross-device integration for the adoption of the agentic AI experience. These systems are expected to learn the user's habits, anticipate needs in advance, and perform actions with user permission.

Qualcomm CMO Don McGuire stated that this transformation cannot be limited to the efforts of a single company. According to McGuire, a broader ecosystem involving hardware manufacturers, software developers, global brands, and content creators will be decisive in the widespread adoption of agentic AI experiences.

Qualcomm argues that in the new era, AI will work in tighter integration with different devices and services.

One of the examples of collaboration at the event was demonstrated through Mastercard. In the presentation, the potential impacts of AI agents on payment systems and customer experience were illustrated using Qualcomm hardware. In this scenario, the secure execution of financial transactions under user control was highlighted.

Qualcomm's message is that artificial intelligence is moving from a passive command-response model toward more goal-oriented systems that follow context. While the company positions the Snapdragon architecture as one of the fundamental components of this transition, it also points out that the agentic AI approach is still in its early stages.
