Russia and China to install nuclear power unit on the Moon

Yury Borisov, head of the Russian Federal Space Agency (Roscosmos), stated that Russia and China are planning to install a nuclear power unit on the Moon between 2033 and 2035.

In his speech, Borisov said that they have signed an agreement with China for joint lunar missions.

Explaining that an important project regarding lunar operations is being developed with China, Borisov said, "We are evaluating a project to deliver and install a nuclear energy unit on the lunar surface together with our Chinese colleagues between 2033 and 2035."

The two countries signed a memorandum of understanding in 2021 to establish a joint station to conduct research on the Moon.
