One of the reasons for this is that drugs cannot reach the cancer cells clustered and concentrated in the inner parts of tumors. It has been noted that the new method discovered by scientists triggers the "self-destruct buttons" of cancer cells, opening gaps in the outer shell of tumors.
Fas, a receptor found in all cells, allows cells to self-destruct under certain conditions. To initiate this process, Fas receptors must be triggered with the correct antibodies. In other words, it was stated that eliminating a cell is more like inserting and turning the right key rather than just pressing the right button.
Researchers from the University of California, Davis and Indiana University focused on Fas receptors, which were previously viewed as "a structure whose value in cancer treatment was not fully understood." Despite previous research on Fas, none had reached the clinical trial stage.

In their recent studies on mouse models and human cells, researchers identified which antibodies bind to Fas receptors to trigger cell destruction.
