A "turn off recommendations" option is coming to Spotify, the world's most used music platform.
According to a report by Eray Kalelioğlu from Webtekno, a new feature detected in the platform's beta version code reveals that Spotify's "personalized recommendations" feature will become optional.
Spotify's general approach is to provide recommendations based on listening habits. Thanks to this feature, users discover music they can always enjoy. However, this feature may soon become optional. It was noted that users will be able to disable this feature if they wish.
IT WILL BE INDEPENDENT
This new feature, which appeared in Spotify's beta version code, will be especially useful for shared accounts. For example, it was stated that when the personalized recommendations feature is turned off, the music tastes of different people using the same computer will remain independent of each other.
IN THE EVALUATION STAGE
Although no official statement has been made by Spotify regarding the matter, a spokesperson speaking to MacRumors stated that the new feature has not yet reached a wide user base and is in the "evaluation" stage. The spokesperson stated that Spotify will continue its efforts to improve the user experience, but did not provide an explanation as to how song recommendations will be made to users if this feature is turned off.
