Tesla Chair Robyn Denholm has firmly denied reports suggesting that a search is underway for a new CEO to replace Elon Musk.

A report published by the Wall Street Journal on Wednesday alleged that the Tesla board of directors had contacted executive search firms to find a successor for Elon Musk. However, Denholm stated that these claims do not reflect the truth, emphasizing that Tesla's confidence in Musk's leadership remains absolute. Musk also addressed the report on the social media platform X, stating that it was intentionally false.
Musk recently stated that he would be dedicating more time to Tesla. This has been interpreted as a sign that Musk will step back from his roles in the Trump administration to focus on Tesla's growth plans. However, Musk's adoption of far-right political stances in Europe has led to an increase in protests and acts of vandalism targeting Tesla.
TESLA'S FUTURE STRATEGIES
At a time of intensifying global competition, Tesla is shifting its focus toward producing robotaxis and humanoid robots, moving away from plans to develop a new electric vehicle platform. This strategic shift signals the company's positioning as an artificial intelligence and robotics firm rather than just an automaker in the future.
Tesla's valuation is largely based on this vision, and some investors have welcomed the rise in the company's stock following the easing of autonomous vehicle testing rules by federal regulators.
Tesla's board of directors is holding meetings with major investors to reinforce confidence in Musk's leadership. Although there have been criticisms regarding the independence of the board, Denholm rejects these claims and states that the board continues to support Musk.
It is reported that the board, which includes members such as Kimbal Musk and James Murdoch, is considering adding an independent director.
