The Italian government went on record as the first Western country to block access to ChatGPT in the past, and it cited data usage as the reason for this ban, just as it has in the DeepSeek investigation. ChatGPT, which was blocked for a period of time, was later reopened for use in the country.
20 DAYS GRANTED
The Italian government has given DeepSeek 20 days to fulfill the request. During this period, the company is required to prepare a detailed report and explain in full detail how it handles data usage. Following this, the government will present certain conditions for DeepSeek to remain available. If these conditions are met, Italian citizens will be able to use DeepSeek technologies without any restrictions. Otherwise, DeepSeek will be blocked from access, just like ChatGPT.
