Google is integrating its Gemini artificial intelligence technology into the Gmail platform, allowing users to automatically summarize long email threads. This innovation was developed as part of the trend of integrating artificial intelligence into daily software tools.

Currently working only on English emails, this feature is disabled by default in regions such as the European Union, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, and Japan. Users in other regions can enable this feature through their Gmail settings.

Experts note that while the automatic summarization function can be useful, it also carries certain risks. In the past, Apple had temporarily suspended its news summary notification service due to errors. Similarly, Google's search feature called "AI Overviews" had previously been criticized for producing low-quality information. Although Google claims that these issues have been resolved, some concerns still persist among users.

The Gemini-powered summarization feature aims to prevent users from getting lost in long email chains. However, regional restrictions and questions regarding reliability may affect the adoption process of this innovation. Google plans to expand this technology to more languages and regions in the future.
